CHARLESTON, S.C. – On a day when they dropped only a single set, the Texas A&M-Kingsville beach volleyball team kept their recent hot streak intact with two victories, first sweeping the Huntingdon Hawks, 5-0, then downing the Erskine Flying Fleet by an identical 5-0 score on Friday morning on the first day of the C of C Beach Blast at the Creekside Tennis & Swim Complex in Charleston, S.C.
"We did a nice job of siding out today," said coach Tanya Allen. "We've really shown improvement in our shot selection. Each court had their situations, but overall we fought to maintain control in both matches."
The Javelinas are now on a six-match win streak, their longest since they won eight straight in 2019, and their record stands at 10-6.

The Javelinas wasted no time jumping ahead of the Hawks, as sophomore Grace Gettys (New Braunfels, Texas) and senior Christina Gragasin (Celina, Texas) quickly locked up the fifth flight, 21-8, 21-12. Seniors Meghan Merlino (Sacramento, Calif.) and Roxanne Morris (Goliad, Texas) followed suit with a fourth flight win, 21-12, 21-13 and the sixth match went to senior Kapri Pelle (Auburn, Calif.) and sophomore Jackie Alanis (McAllen, Texas), 21-15, 21-14.
The clinching point was provided by sophomore Rylie Anderson (Justin, Texas) and freshman Madelyn Wallace (La Vernia, Texas) in the No. 3 match, 21-14, 21-13 and junior Lexi Ahrens (Virgina, Minn.) and sophomore Adrienne van Brunt (Corpus Christi, Texas) took the second flight, 21-18, 21-12. TAMUK secured the day's first sweep when seniors Tenley Housler (Bulverde, Texas) and Macie Satterwhite (Callisburg, Texas) triumphed at No. 1, 21-10, 21-16.
TAMUK vs. Erskine
The Javs were nearly as perfect against Erskine, with the match's first point in this instance coming from Merlino and Morris in the fourth match, 21-15, 21-13. Gettys and Gragasin outfought their opponents in the first set, then topped them in the second, 26-24, 21-14 for a 2-0 margin. The sixth flight went to Pelle and Alanis 21-19, 21-18.
Once again, the clincher was applied by Anderson and Wallace with a third flight victory, 21-19, 21-14 and Housler and Satterwhite snatched the No. 1 match, 21-17, 21-17, shortly after. After a three-set battle, Ahrens and van Brunt finished off another sweep, 21-15, 16-21, 15-13.
