SAN ANGELO, Texas- The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team earned a 10-4 victory over the #10 Angelo State Rams on Friday, with freshman Kyle Perales (Hildago, Texas) and sophomore Nick Wolff (Klein, Texas) each hitting a home run, while senior Kolby Lunsford earned his fifth win of the season in the series opener at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium. 
 
The Javelinas (18-9, 16-9 LSC) bested the Rams (21-6, 19-6 LSC), as TAMUK knocked off the 10th ranked team in the nation, with Wolff, Perales, and sophomore Jake Chapman (Boerne, Texas) each recording multiple RBIs. 
 
The Rams struck first, putting two on the board in the top of the first before Lunsford clamped down and delivered five scoreless innings striking out four. 
 
Benjamin Elder kept the Javelinas off the board until the sixth inning when the Hogs put five on the scoreboard after sophomore Matthew Castro (Corpus Christi, Texas) led off the inning, getting plunked by a pitch. A fielder's choice and a single by sophomore Shelby Becker (Giddings, Texas) put runners at the corners for senior Giancarlo Servin (Edinburg, Texas), who brought classmate Kyler Bumstead (Kountze, Texas) home. Chapman proceeded to drop a single into left field that allowed Servin and Becker to cross the plate. The inning was capped off with a two-run bomb by Perales for the Javelina's fifth run. 
 
Castro scored again in the seventh, charging home one a wild pitch for a 6-2 Javelina lead, before the Rams got one back in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore Colton Taylor (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada) toed the slab with two outs and runners of the corners and induced a groundout, ending the two-out rally. 
 
In the eighth, Wolff smashed a long ball over the left field wall prior to three more insurance runs in the ninth as redshirt freshman Jaden Cavazos (Weslaco, Texas) worked a bases-loaded walk before Wolff added two more RBIs on a single. 
 
ASU scored another in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too little too late as the Javelinas claimed a 10-4 victory in the series opener. 
 
The teams face off twice tomorrow, with a Saturday doubleheader scheduled for 4 p.m., before the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
