Javelinas host Texas A&M International Wednesday, before inviting Oklahoma Christian to Nolan Ryan Field

The Javelina baseball team will face the Dustdevils on Wednesday in a nonconference contest before hosting a four-game league series against the eagles

KINGSVILLE, Texas- On Wednesday, the Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team will host the Texas A&M International Dustdevils, at 6 p.m. in a nonconference matchup before a four-game Lone Star Conference series at Nolan Ryan Field, with game one set for Friday at 6 p.m. A Saturday doubleheader will feature games two and three beginning at 2 p.m., before the finale, Sunday at 1 p.m.

First, the Javelinas (9-4, 8-4 LSC) take on the Dustdevils (7-10, 7-9 LSC) in a 6 p.m. in the second of two non-league matchups.

These teams last met at Jorge Haynes Field in Laredo, Texas, where TAMUK overpowered TAMIU in a 24-10 win. Freshman Kyle Perales (Hidalgo, Texas) led the Pack, smashing three home runs in the victory, while senior Giancarlo Servin (Edinburg, Texas) knocked in four RBIs. Newcomer Robbie Spencer (Portland, Texas) got his first collegiate win in the contest after striking out two in two innings of work.

The Javelinas got a week of rest after an LSC series against Arkansas-Fort Smith as the Pack last competed against UT Tyler, where they took the series thanks to potent pitching as well as timely hitting.

After dropping the series opener, the Hogs bounced back, taking game two 4-3, before senior Logan Garza (Round Rock, Texas) and sophomore Colton Taylor (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada) tossed a combined no-hitter, with Garza striking out seven batters in six innings of work, and Taylor earning his third save of the season, the second-most in Division II. Additionally, Garza was named LSC Pitcher of the Week and NBCWA Pitcher of the Week, while Taylor maintains a 0.00 ERA through 10 innings, allowing four hits and striking out 15.

The Pack was firing on all cylinders in game four against UTT, taking the contest 9-1 with Servin logging four RBIs courtesy of a long ball in the top of the first, as well as a triple in the second. Redshirt senior Brandon Symmank (Cypress, Texas) was also dominant in the finale, tossing seven strikeouts in as many innings, allowing just one run on the day. Servin leads the Javelinas in home runs at five and RBIs at 21, a statistic that ranks 18th in the nation.

As a team, TAMUK leads the league in triples at seven and sits fourth in batting average, hitting .305.

The Hogs then turn their attention to the Oklahoma Christian Eagles (6-10, 6-10 LSC), who split a series against TAMIU last time out, despite winning the first two games.

The Eagle offense is led by Tanner White, who matches Servins' home run total, with the two sharing a spot atop the conference leader board. White maintains a .358 average that sits second among the OC roster, behind Chance Westervelt, whose slashing .380 through 50 at-bats.

The Oklahoma Christian bullpen ranks sixth in the conference boasting a 5.60 ERA, despite leading the league in hit batters with 29. Additionally, the Eagles boast a pair of aces as Will Rodman leads the team with 19 strikeouts and a 0.97 WHIP, while Andrew Alonzo has fanned 17, in 17 innings of work.
