RICHARDSON, Texas – After helping his team earn two victories during their final weekend at home in 2021-22, senior forward Dayante McClellan (Austin, Texas) has been named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
McClellan did it all for the Javelinas last week, posting a stat line that included a team-high 14 rebounds and four assists as TAMUK knocked off Midwestern State and Dallas Baptist. In his team's Sunday win over DBU, the senior from Austin collected 10 rebounds, tossed in eight points, passed out three assists, blocked two shots and added a steal as the Javs pulled out a 74-70 win. TAMUK held the Patriots and Mustangs to just 40.5-percent shooting from the floor and 64.5 points per game.
McClellan is the second Javelina to win LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2021-22. Junior Will Chayer (Corpus Christi, Texas) earned the title on Jan. 24th.
