Javelinas prepare for showdown with East Central in Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl

TAMUK looks to capture first post season win since 2016

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville football is set to take on the Tigers of East Central out of the Great American Conference on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl in Corsicana, Texas.

"This is an exciting time for our players and team," said head coach Mike Salinas. "East Central is a really good team, so we have to make sure we go out and execute at a high level as we enjoy everything that comes with a bowl game."

Following a 7-4 season that marked the first time the Javelinas achieved a winning record since 2016, the Javelinas will once again be playing in the postseason as they look to knock off the Tigers in Corsicana. TAMUK's last postseason appearance came in 2016, when they routed Southern Arkansas 24-7 in the Agent David Barry Live United Bowl, concluding the season 9-3.

Historically, the Javelinas have been one of the nation's top teams in the postseason, going 24-6, while picking up seven National Championships in addition to a bowl victory along the way. Additionally, this will mark the first postseason appearance under head coach Mike Salinas.
