Kingsville - The Scott Parr era kicked off with a bang for the Javelinas, as they blasted Lincoln University 60-12 Saturday at Javelina Stadium.
The Javelinas (1-0) utilized a dynamic offense tallying 478 total yards of offense in their season opener under first year head coach Scott Parr. Parr's Javelinas controlled the game from start to finish, outgaining Lincoln University CA (0-2) 478 to 288 in total offense.Â
"We're thankful for the fans that came out here to support us," Head Football Coach Scott Parr said. "That was an awesome home crowd and I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to build on it."
Jack Turner looked poised under center throughout the game throwing for 278 yards and four touchdowns. Turner made sure all the receivers touched the ball.
CJ Thompson hauled in two touchdowns on four receptions for 79 yards. Ivan Thompson Jr. was not far behind with three receptions for 75 yards. Making out the trio was
King Phillips who found the endzone once and tallied 74 yards.
The Hogs were not just able to control the ball through the air but also on the ground.
Andre Branch found the right rushing lanes on his way to a 65 yard night, finding the endzone on a 12 yard run. James Chumley also made the most of the second half, rushing for 56 yards while scoring his first career touchdown.
The Javelinas wasted no time establishing dominance on both sides of the ball. The defense forced three interceptions with
Darrius Pamplin returning one for 60 yards to set up a Kingsville touchdown.
Tre Robbins led the defense with 1.5 sacks and four tackles. The defensive unit stopped a high octane ground attack, holding the visitors to just 33 rushing yards on 21 attempts.
