Maryville, MO - Texas A&M-Kingsville hits the road for the first time in the 2025 season as it takes on Northwest Missouri State in Bearcat Stadium at 1:30 pm.
The Javelinas (1-0) are looking to build off the momentum of week one, where they dominated Lincoln University 60-12. The Bearcats (1-1) are looking to do much the same after getting their first win of the season last week against Washburn.
Saturday's matchup is a continuation of a historic rivalry between Texas A&M-Kingsville and Northwest Missouri State. Despite only playing four times, three of those matchups came in the playoffs with the last one being a heartbreaking 31-35 loss for the Javelinas. Both programs also combine for 13 national championships (Texas A&M-Kingsville 7x, Northwest Missouri State 6x).
New Head Coach Scott Parr's offense looked the part for the Javelinas in week one, as the Hogs posted 38 first-half points against the Oaks on their way to a Lone Star Conference best 60 points. Louisiana Tech transfer quarterback
Jack Turner was particularly exceptional for the Javelinas, tossing 278 yards and four touchdowns in just the first half in his Texas A&M-Kingsville debut.
The pass catchers for the Javelinas will need to continue to be effective against the Bearcats. The trio of
CJ Thompson,
Ivan Thomas and
King Phillips all eclipsed the 70-yard receiving mark despite only playing for a half. Thompson and Phillips would combine for three touchdowns as well.
On the other side of the ball, it will be strength-on-strength for the Hogs and the Bearcats. Texas A&M-Kingsville held Lincoln to just 32 rushing and notched a pair of sacks, 1.5 of those coming from
Tre Robbins, while Northwest Missouri State has yet to allow a sack this season.
Texas A&M-Kingsville against Northwest Missouri State is set to kickoff at 1:30 pm from Marville, MO. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on the MIAA Network or follow the game at JavelinaFB on X.
