KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team will tipoff at the Steinke Physical Education Center for the first time in 2022 as they host Western Colorado at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Â
Two games in, the Javelinas lead the LSC in three-point scoring, sinking nine shots per game from deep at a 42.9 % clip. TAMUK also serves as the top defensive team at the perimeter, holding opponents to an 18.2% shooting from beyond the arc.Â
Â
Meanwhile, the Mountaineers (0-2. 0-0 RMAC) narrowly fell to Texas Woman's 57-55 before losing to Angelo State 66-51. Western also took on Colorado State in an exhibition earlier in the week, suffering an 86-56 setback to the NCAA Division I opponent.Â
Â
Rachel Cockman has been the Mountaineer's top scorer at 14.5 PPG, while Brooklyn Seymour is not far behind with 11.5 PPG. Defensively, Haley Valencia has two blocks and three steals, both team-bests despite coming off the bench. Valencia also is tied with Emmery Wagstaff for the team's top passer, each with five assists.
