• TAMUK tips off against top-ranked and defending Nationl Champion LCU on December 31 at the Steinke Physical Education Center beginning at 2 p.m.
• The Blue and Gold follow up with their first contest of the 2022 calendar year against Eastern New Mexico on January 2 at 2 p.m.
• The Lady Chaps are on a seven-game winning streak after defeating West Texas A&M on December 7, Western New Mexico on December 11 and Cameron on December 15
• LCU has two players averaging double figures in points scored with Ashton Duncan at 12.5 and Allie Schulte at 11.9
• Both players are shooting at a consistent rate with Duncan clocking in at 44.4%, just behind Schulte at 47.9%
• ENMU is 4-2 after defeating Western New Mexico on December 9 to snap a two-game skid
• Natalie Stice leads the way with a 14.2 scoring average while shooting 31.9% from the floor
• Stice also leads the rebounding effort with 6.7 per game, while Kamirah Decker is second on the team at 5.7 per game
Last Time Out  Â
• The Javelinas dropped their final pair of non-conference games on the road with a 69-60 loss at the hands of St. Edward's on December 18, followed by a 56-52 bitter defeat to St. Mary's on December 20

Brianna Pena was the lone Javelina to reach at least 10 points in both games, putting away 11 in the loss to St. Edward's with another 11 coming against the Rattlers

Jayde Tschritter also picked up 12 points in the loss to SEU
• TAMUK turned in its lowest turnovers allowed in back-to-back games, starting with 12 against St. Edward's and allowing only six to St. Mary's
• The previous season low in turnovers was 13 allowed in the 61-43 win against Angelo State on December 4
Starting Strong  Â
• The Javelinas improved to 6-2 through eight games to begin the 2021-22 campaign
• The last time TAMUK started 6-2 or better was the 2009-10 season when the team began the year 10-2 en route to an 18-10 finish
• In the 45-year history of the program, the Blue and Gold have only started with two or fewer losses through the first 10 games in four separate seasons
• The best 10-game start to the year was 9-1 in the 1982-83 and 1993-94 seasons
• The Javelinas began 1982-83 with a 12-1 record and reached the NCAA North Central Regional Tournament in St. Cloud, Minn., that year
• The 1993-94 season saw the team start with an 11-1 record and ended the year at the LSC Tournament
Texas Two-Step  Â

Anastacia Mickens put up 24 points, a new career-high, in a 66-56 win at home against Western Oregon on November 24
• It is the most points by a Javelina in a game since Cloe Lane put up 25 in a 66-65 loss to Texas Woman's on February 7, 2019
• Only two Javelinas surpassed 20 points in a game in the 2020-21 season

Brianna Pena did it first with 21 points in a 74-65 loss to West Texas A&M on January 22

Blanked  Â
• The Javelinas held Chadron State to zero points in the third quarter en route to a 58-51 win on November 12 to open the season
• It is the first time ever the Javelinas held their opponents to zero points in a quarter since the NCAA shifted to the quarter format ahead of the 2015-16 season
• Since head coach
Michael Madrid took over, the Javelinas have held their opponents to fewer than 10 points in a quarter 29 times
• The previous lowest output allowed by TAMUK with Madrid at the helm came in the 2019-20 season when they limited St. Mary's to two points in the first quarter on January 18
• The Javelinas also held Midwestern State to two points in the third quarter in the 2016-17 season on February 2
