THE MATCHUP
• The Javelinas open postseason play with a rubber match against No. 16 West Texas A&M in the LSC Tournament Quarterfinals in Frisco, Texas, at the Comerica Center
• TAMUK won the first matchup by a count of 86-84 at home, but fell in the second contest at 76-66 on the road
• The Javelinas are 1-10 in their last 11 contests after suffering losses to Cameron and MSU Texas to end the regular season
• The Blue and Gold still secured the eighth seed in the LSC Tournament courest of a WNMU loss A&M-Commerce and a CU loss to Angelo State
• The Lady Buffs enter postseason play as winners of their last nine contests to claim the LSC regular season title
• WT took home two postseason awards at the LSC banquet as Lexy Hightower was named Player of the Year and head coach Kristen Mattio was named Coach of the Year
• Hightower ended the regular season with a 16.1 scoring average on 30.3 minutes per game ad a 46.6% shooting clip
• Hightower also added 3.1 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game alongside 32 steals and three blocks
• Tyesha Taylor, an All-LSC first team selection, ended the year with a 14.6 scoring average and a 5.1 rebounding average

• The Javelinas are back in the postseason for the second time under head coach
Wade Scott as the eighth seed in the LSC Tournament
• TAMUK was also the eighth seed following the 2016-17 regular season and made history by defeating top-seeded Eastern New Mexico by a count of 69-67 in overtime
• The last time the Blue and Gold had a win in the LSC Tournament was on Feb. 27, 2001, a 70-57 win over Northeastern State
• Kaylin Roher led TAMUK with 20 points in the win, while
Angelica Wilson and Shaq DeBose added 15 and 10 points off the bench, respectively
• The 2017 postseason run came to an end against Tarleton in the semifinal as 60-47
• Tee Moore tallied 11 points for TAMUK, while Kaylee Kana added 10 off the bench

LSC Player of the Week
•
Brynae Thompson took home LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Jan. 7 after her 28-point performance against the Pioneers
• It was the first LSC honor for a Javelina since Nov. 29, 2016, when Kaylin Roher took home the Defensive Player of the Week award from the conference
• The last Javelina to take home LSC Offensive Player of the Week was Rosalie Cutri on Dec. 17, 2013

Bri-Anna Soliz posted the first double-double of the year for the Javelinas in the 86-84 upset over then-No. 2 West Texas A&M on January 10, with 13 points and 15 rebounds
• Soliz's second double-double came courtesy of the 71-67 win over MSU Texas on January 24 where she tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds in the contest
•
Danielle Meador secured the second double-double of the year with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Western New Mexico on January 17
• Meador posted her second double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Cameron on January 26
• Soliz grabbed her third double-double in the win over UTPB at 13 points and 11 boards, before taking her fourth double-double at 15 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to CU
