TORONTO – The 2018 NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean) Championships took place at the University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium over the weekend, and a pair of former Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field members continued their impressive run on the world circuit following the three-day event.
Jeron Robinson (2013-16) claimed his third title over the summer as he cleared his first attempt at the 2.28-meter mark in the high jump to take home the gold medal.
Robinson started his summer run with a first-place finish in the same event at the
USATF Championships in Iowa back in June and followed up with the top spot at the
2018 Athletics World Cup in London a few weeks later.
Thanks to the Houston native's efforts, team USA ended up on top of the competition in London with 219 team points.
Meanwhile,
Charles Greaves (2016-18) finished ninth in the long jump for team Barbados after landing at 7.49 meters on his third attempt. Greaves took first at the 2018 Barbados National Championships in the long jump during the same weekend as the USATF Championships to earn his spot at the 2018 NACAC Championships.
Greaves helped lead the Javelinas to their first-ever
NCAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Charlotte, N.C., back in May after taking home three First Team All-America honors in the triple jump, long jump and 4x100 meter relay.
The Bridgetown, Barbados, native was crowned the NCAA National Champion in the triple jump and as a member of the 4x100 meter relay to go with a second-place finish in the long jump to wrap his career in the Blue and Gold.
TAMUK will defend its 2018 title at home in the 2019 outdoor season as the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Javelina Stadium.
