Austin - The final regular season competition of the year for the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's track and field teams was one marred by poor weather, as the Javelinas took part in only one of the two days of competition at the Texas Invitational.
Rain and a cold front, which are sweeping much of Texas this weekend, prevented TAMUK from competing on Friday, the second day of competition at the teams' regular season finale in Austin.
Senior men's pole vaulter
Django Segovia led the way for Kingsville on Thursday, clearing a bar set at 5.15m, the fifth-best vault in school history, and a top-20 mark in the nation so far this season. The performance continues a stellar streak of vaults for the senior, who set a new PR (which he just broke) last week, earning him the first Lone Star Conference Athlete of the Week award of his career.
The next time Kingsville's teams take the oval, it will be in the postseason, as TAMUK will be heading to Canyon this coming week for the LSC Championship. Competition will take place across three days: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
