KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Kingsville baseball program will play host to Our Lady of the Lady University on Tuesday, March 27, for a one-game non-conference matchup.
The Javelinas return to Kingsville following their first series loss in nearly a month after dropping three of four to Tarleton State this past weekend. The Texans took the first three games of the series before TAMUK clinched game four for a 20-7 mark in 2018.
The final contest of the Lone Star opener saw the Hogs post 14 runs on only six hits as the senior duo of
Levi Zents (Fort Worth, Texas) and
Dallas Stefano (Cypress, Texas) combined for nine RBI in the game.
Zents leads the Hogs with a .361 batting average through 27 games after adding three to his total this past weekend. The Keller Central H.S. product also added six RBI over the series and now sits second on the team with 18 total.
Stefano is currently hitting .277 on the year with 18 hits and owns 17 RBI to his name.
On the mound, freshman
Tyler Flores (San Antonio, Texas) got his first career start in game four and turned in five innings of four-hit ball with four punchouts while taking his second win of the year. Junior
Joshua Valdez (Kyle, Texas) tossed two hitless innings in the game to secure the win for the Javelinas with three strikeouts.
OLLU owns a 15-19 record on the year after dropping two of three to Texas A&M-Texarkana. Prior to the series loss to TAMUT, the Saints had won five of their previous six contests, including a 2-1 series win over Wayland Baptist.
Our Lady of the Lake is led by Daniel Anciso, who is hitting .368 on the year with 35 hits and 17 RBI through 32 games. On the mound, the Saints own a 4.84 team ERA with Jordan Hackett owning a 4.11 ERA in nine starts with 40 strikeouts.
First pitch of the game has been moved up to 4 p.m. CT due to potential incoming inclement weather in the Kingsville area.
