KINGSVILLE, Texas –  Texas A&M University-Kingsville (9-5, 2-1 LSC) put together one of its best performances this season in a hotly contested win against Texas Woman's University (4-8, 2-2 LSC) at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center Friday evening. Â

After coming up short 23-25 in the opening frame, the Javelinas grinded out the next three sets for the win with scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20. The match was close across the board as the home team edged TWU in hitting (.289-.281) and in blocks (9-8). Texas A&M-Kingsville set season-high marks with 60 kills, 58 assists, and 12 service aces.Â

A trio of Hogs finished with double-digit kills including
Lexi Wick and
Madison Brabham who each accounted for 15. Wick added three aces and two blocks while Brabham had four blocks.
Shelby Sheets continued to have a hot hand, compiling a career-high 14 kills and recorded two blocks.
Krystal Faison led the team with 17 digs and registered eight kills, however, the Pioneers had no answer for her serves as she aced them six times, tying her career best.
Haley Hutchinson tallied seven kills on ten errorless swings to hit a career-high .700, while
Casey Klobedans controlled the offense with a season-best 55 assists. Â

Miri Shade and Briley Cole-Lewis both concluded the match with match-highs of 16 kills. Sophomore Courtney Noel chipped in nine kills on a .444 attack percentage. Â
Kingsville will play arguably the biggest match of the weekend against A&M-Commerce tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Lions are currently receiving votes in the AVCA national poll.Â
