KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – While rain shortened this past weekend's slate of games, #17/22 Texas A&M-Kingsville nevertheless returns to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon at Nolan Ryan Field against the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake at 4 p.m.
LAST WEEK
The Pack defeated UT-Permian Basin 3-2 and 6-0 on Friday before weather cancelled the remaining scheduled games of the nonconference series. The wins helped the Diamond Hogs improve their record to 10-0 which is the best start in school history.
Pitching led the way as
Preston Plovanich and
Zach Wilson combined to pitch complete 7-inning games. Wilson fanned 10 Falcons in game two.
In the first game,
Pablo Hernandez produced his 14
th RBI of the year by hitting a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7
th. It was the first of two RBI's he would have on the day.
Defending LSC hitter of the week
Hunter Perkins reached base three of four times in game one and scored a run in the second game.
THE MATCHUP
Our Lady of the Lake comes to Kingsville with an 8-11 overall record and 2-0 in Red River Athletic (NAIA) conference play. Matt Beasley is the Saints best bat, hitting .371 with a homer and 14 RBI's on the year. Their interim head coach is former Javelina closer Jeremy Flores who took over after a season as pitching coach.

Jimmy Roche scoring the winning run on a
Hayden Vesely base knock to seal the win.

Last week, the Javelinas moved up from No. 19 to No. 17 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association poll and entered the first Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll at No. 22.
