Next Up: The Javelinas look to split the season series against A&M-Commerce on Saturday evening

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Men's Basketball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (14-8, 7-6 LSC) six-game winning streak comes to an abrupt end after falling to #11 Tarleton State University (21-3, 12-2 LSC) 78-41 on Thursday night at Wisdom Gym.

After an emphatic dunk from Duan Wright in the first half, Tarleton State took off on a 14-2 run and never looked back. The Javelinas trailed by as much as 28 in the opening stanza and the Texans sealed the deal by shooting 15-of-16 at the charity stripe in the second half. TAMUK's 41 points is a season-low as well as their 13 made field goals, .009 clip from beyond the arc and .250 clip from the floor.

1st Half
The Hogs had a quick 5-1 start to the game, but a 7-0 run by the Texans gave the home team an 8-5 lead, forcing the first timeout of the game. TSU continued its run out of the timeout and at the 10:59 mark, TAMUK found themselves down, 15-7. The half was all about Tarleton State as they shot 6-of-9 from downtown, with four of them coming from freshman Anthony Davis. The Javelinas could not match the Texans hot shooting as they shot 21% from the floor and committed 11 first half turnovers. TAMUK went into the locker room trailing 43-15 and was led by Wright's seven points.

2nd Half
Although the second half was more competitive, the Texans first half run and fair shooting in the second half was too much for the Javelinas to overcome as the Hogs fell 78-41. TSU shot 15-of-16 from the free throw line in the final half alone and finished with an 88.9 % at the stripe.

Estelle's Corner

When asked about:

…his thoughts on the game as a whole.…

"Credit needs to be given to Coach Reisman, his staff and his players. It was a tough loss and one of those nights in basketball that can be categorized as a perfect storm. We did not play good in any area of the game and played our worst game of the year. TSU defended really well and shot the ball with great confidence. We have to get refocused and get back to playing JAVELINA BASKETBALL Saturday."
