COMMERCE, Texas (Men's Basketball) – Duan Wright achieved a career milestone of 500 points in two season with Texas A&M University-Kingsville (14-9, 7-7 LSC) in the 77-59 loss to Texas A&M University-Commerce (17-7, 9-6 LSC) Saturday evening at The Field House.
Texas A&M-Kingsville dropped its second straight game on the road, bringing their record to 3-6 as the visiting team this year and a .500 Lone Star Conference record. The loss resulted in a season sweep at the hands of the Lions despite a brilliant performance from Wright with a game-high of 21 points.
The Hogs struck first in the game, but a 7-0 run in the first frame ignited the Lions and they would not relinquish the lead again. TAMUC led for 37 total minutes and shot 47% from the floor and 31% from three. TAMUK shot 38% and 21%, respectively, however they did shoot 14-of-19 from the charity stripe. Marcus Frazier and Derrick Byrd was next in scoring with eight points each, while Thomas Diaz chipped in seven points from the bench.

1st Half
The Javelinas and Lions came out with strong shooting starts although the home team led 14-10 at the 15:17 mark. Later in the half with TAMUK still trailing 21-20, Wright knocks down his second triple of the game to give them its first lead (23-20) since making the first field goal of the game. The lead was short lived though as the Hogs could not sustain their hot shooting and went 0-of-9 on their next field goal attempts to help the Lions build a 28-23 lead. A&M-Commerce went into the half with a 37-28 lead although Wright led all scorers with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
2nd Half
The Javelinas fought in the second half, but at the 13:32 mark they found themselves facing their largest deficit at that point(54-40) thanks to De'Andre Carson's four made three-pointers in the half alone. The Lions continued to pour it on in the final stanza and defeated TAMUK, 77-59.
