Box Score 2 KINGSVILLE, Texas (Softball) – Haley Boyett led the team with two hits in Saturday's doubleheader as Texas A&M University-Kingsville (15-24, 6-14 LSC) fell in both games against No. 2 West Texas A&M University (40-2, 22-2, LSC) 6-2 and 3-0 at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field.
Carlie Clark finished the four-game series with ten strikeouts in 11.2 innings pitched with an ERA of 3.60.
Rachael Longoria batted .385 in the series, while
Roxy Chapa led TAMUK with three RBI.
Game One Texas A&M- Kingsville lead early but ultimately West Texas A&M was able to plate six runs to take the first game 6-2.
Karri Smith tossed her fifth complete game of the season but fell to 3-5 on the year striking out four batter's. Lady Buffs starter Kilee Halbert improved to 16-1 on the year.
Longoria
, Lindsey Angelico, Myrissa Sanchez, Boyett and Chapa all recorded a base hit in game three of the series.
Chapa drove in
Lauren Oatman on a double to right field in the bottom of the third to give the Javelinas a 1-0 lead. TAMUK tacked on another run in the frame to take a 2-0 lead.
West Texas took its first lead of the game in the fifth scoring four runs. The lead extended to 6-2 in the sixth and that would be the final as the Lady Buffs took Saturday's opener 6-2.
Game TwoWest Texas A&M's pitching lead the way in the 3-0 game two shutout victory. Boyett registered a base hit for the Javelinas.
Clark had six strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched and fell to 7-8 in the circle this season. Tori Bayer was credited with the victory, improving to 11-0 on the year.
The Lady Buffs scored one run in the first inning and another in the third to go ahead 2-0. WT added an insurance run in the seventh to take the final game of the series 3-0.
Kingsville will have a midweek doubleheader at Huston-Tillotson on Tuesday, April 5 in the state's capital at 2 and 4 p.m.
