KINGSVILLE, Texas (Volleyball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (19-6, 9-4 LSC) opens its four-match homestand Friday, October 28 against Texas A&M University-Commerce (14-11, 8-6 LSC) at 7 p.m. and ends the weekends on Saturday, October 29 against Texas Woman's University (7-16, 3-11 LSC) at 1 p.m. in the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center.

The Javelinas have been strong defensively with 228 total blocks ranking third in the entire nation. Conversely, the club has also rose to expectations offensively with a hitting percentage of .227 and leads the Lone Star Conference in total assists (1,143), kills (1,214) and service aces (161). With an unblemished record at home (6-0), TAMUK looks to keep it that way by avenging a loss earlier this season at A&M-Commerce and completing the season sweep over Texas Woman's.
Krystal Faison paces the club with 296 kills and adds 34 aces and 29 blocks. Lexi Wick follows with 248 kills this season and leads the conference with a .403 hitting percentage, 30 blocks. The junior middle leads the team with 105 total blocks and 36 aces which sits sixth and tenth, respectively in Division II volleyball and also second in the LSC in both categories. Ashley Bukowski rounds out the 200-plus kill club at 230, while sophomores Madison Brabham and LSC Defensive Player of the Week Haley Hutchinson are next with 157 and 147 kills in that order. Hutchinson ranks 13th in the Division II with 103 total blocks. Casey Klobedans continues to put up career numbers this season and leads the league with 988 assists to go along with 67 kills, 42 blocks and 22 aces. Krystal Puente has 358 digs to set the team standard defensively and Taliah Phipps quietly cracks the top four in the LSC with 32 service aces.
A&M-Commerce jumps back into the winning column after defeating Texas Woman's in Denton, Texas 3-1. The Lions hits .164 as a unit and their opponents average a .159 hitting percentage against them. Taryn Driver is the only player over 200 kills at 254 and also has 59 blocks. Layne Little has 170 kills after sitting out most of last season due to injury and Daisge Smith follows her with 158 kills. Jaslyn Wacker is next with 143 kills and leads the club with 97 blocks and 29 service aces. Sydney Reyes has 136 and a strong 83 blocks while Jaryn Wacker completes the top hitters with 112 kills. The ardent senior in Ashley Mireles leads the defense with 503 digs and Rylie Fuentes navigated the offense with 553 assists.Â
TAMUC holds a 28-13 all-time record against TAMUK and is 8-7 inside of the SPEC. However, the Hogs have won the last two meetings when playing at home.
Texas Woman's has dropped its last three matches against No. 10 Angelo State, Tarleton State and A&M-Commerce. Sara Oxford is the undisputed team leader as she leads the Pioneers with 287 kills, 75 blocks and 18 aces. Other contributing players consists of Anna McGee with 196 kills and 36 blocks, Kerstin Jenkins with 142 kills and 10 aces and Courtney Noel who has 125 kills and 47 total blocks. Mary Kate Hyde has registered 602 assists and 13 aces this season for TWU.Â
TAMUK is 8-36 all-time against TWU and 2-13 when playing against them in Kingsville, Texas
