GAME 8: Hogs Look to Spoil Another Homecoming Saturday

The Javelinas defeated the Texans 43-25 last season in Stephenville

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Football) – For the third consecutive season, Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-3, 2-3 LSC) heads to Memorial Stadium for a Lone Star Conference battle versus Tarleton State University (4-3, 4-1 LSC) Saturday at 6 p.m. The Javelinas search for their first three game win streak since 2012.

THE GAME
  • Texas A&M-Kingsville (4-3, 2-3 LSC) at Tarleton State (4-3, 4-1 LSC)
ALL-TIME SERIES
UT Permian Basin is in its inaugural season of football. Head coach Justin Carrigan is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference, having spent time as the offensive coordinator at Tarleton State University.

Last season, the Hogs and Texans split their matchups but A&M-Kingsville got the better of Tarleton State in the LSC Playoff game with a 43-25 victory.

All-time, the Javelinas lead the series 21-9 and are 6-0 versus Todd Whitten, who is in the first season of his third stint as the head coach at Tarleton State.

Myles Carr has thrown 18 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 2016 and ranks in the top 10 nationally in pass efficiency. Spreading the ball to all wide receivers, tight ends and running backs, Anthony Autry (six touchdowns), Jordan Thomas (four TDs), Torrey Thomas (two scores), Kyle Plum and Stehly Reeden all have 10 or more receptions. Carr's 18 touchdowns are fifth most in single season school history, just three behind his 2015 total.

On the ground, Nick Pelrean has rushed for seven touchdowns and is coming off a three touchdown (two rushing, one receiving) performance in the 56-7 victory over UT Permian Basin. Greg Pitre has added two rushing TDs and looks to return after missing the last game and a half. Despite playing just two quarters in the 51-34 win at West Texas A&M University, Pitre rushed for 130 yards on 21 carries.

Defensively, Brandon Jones leads the conference and is top 10 nationally with 9.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. ZeMarcus Green paces the club with 36 tackles.
