SAN ANGELO, Texas (Women's Basketball) – The Javelinas look to avoid a rust after taking a week off of regular season play. Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-12, 0-7 LSC) heads to Angelo State University (12-5, 5-2 LSC) to battle the Rambelles at 2 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.
The Rambelles have won five of their last six games and enter the weekend in second place in the tough Lone Star Conference. Under first-year head coach Kevin Baker, Angelo State is averaging a league-best 82.1 points, good for seventh most in NCAA Division II and the team protects its home floor, boasting a 9-1 mark at the Junell Center.
Taylor Dorsey leads the club and conference in scoring with 17.5 points and the Forth Worth native also tops the charts in assists (65) and steals (32). Jasmine Prophet is averaging 11.9 points on 52.9 percent shooting and is pulling down 4.9 rebounds per contest. Brea Mitchell is also chipping in 11.9 points and ranks second on the team with 5.4 rebounds
Kaylin Roher paces the Javelinas with 12.1 points per game and the junior guard adds 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
Kyra Bauer follows with 7.5 points and 3.6 rebounds and the senior is shooting 91.6 percent from the charity stripe.
Jamesha Wade and
TaSheena Moore are also over the 7.0 points/game plateau.
Joslyn Smith leads the team in rebounding with 5.4 boards/game, including 13 offensive rebounds in the last two Javelina games.
