SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Women's Golf) – Senior
Jessica Sellers shot a 75 in the second round of the UIW Fall Invitational to finish tied for eighth. Texas A&M-Kingsville totaled 333 over the second 18 holes to end up fifth, eight shot better than Texas A&M International.
In the final round, Sellers totaled 12 pars and added two birdies to move up four spots. Her 36-hole total of 153 was matched by Stephen F. Austin's Erica Lautensack.
End the tournament in the top 25 for the Javelinas was
Analysa Coy and
Brittany Rodriguez. Coy carded an 80 in the second round to finish with a 22-over par, 164 and in a tie for 23rd. Rodriguez ended with tied for 25th with a 169 (+27) after an 80 over the last 18 holes.
Taking home the individual title was St. Edward's Johany Rivera with a 2-under, 140. Jessica White of the Lady Jacks also finished the event under par at -1 (141).
SFA won the team title with a two-day total of 597 (+29). They finished one stroke better than the Hilltoppers. Incarnate Word came in third (626), followed by Murray State CC (670), TAMUK and the Dustdevils.
The Blue and Gold play their final tournament of the fall next Monday and Tuesday in Oklahoma. They will compete in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate hosted by Cameron and taking place at Fort Sill.
