KINGSVILLE, Texas (Men's Basketball) – The annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Weekend supporting the American Cancer Society is set for Jan. 24 as Texas A&M University-Kingsville (6-11, 1-4 LSC) looks to upset No. 23/20 Midwestern State University (15-4, 4-1 LSC) at 6 p.m. on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
 
Saturday's contest is the first of a three-game home stand for the Javelinas and TAMUK looks poised to begin the home stretch with a screeching halt to a 14-game losing streak to the Mustangs. Dating back to the 1976-77 season, MSU has dominated the all-time series, 30-11, and Texas A&M-Kingsville last edged Midwestern State on Feb. 16, 2008. The Mustangs are 12-6 when visiting the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center.

Troy Jones leads the Javelinas averaging 14.2 points per game and 7.1 rebounds. The junior ranks 12th in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage (65.3) and also has two double-doubles. Jamar Goodwin and Jordan Jahr also average double figures with a five combined 20-or-more point performances this season.
 
Last Time Out
The Javelinas overcame a slow start to begin the second half with a 31-30 lead over Cameron University. However, foul trouble and a 15-0 run by the Aggies in the second frame allowed CU to regain the lead and defeat the Hogs, 78-71, on Wednesday evening at Aggie Gym. It was Texas A&M-Kingsville's first loss of the season when leading at halftime. In the Lone Star Conference tilt, Jones reached double figures for the 14th time this season, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds – five offensive. Jordan Jahr was a rebound shy of his second double-double of the season, recording 12 points and nine boards. Duan Wright added 12 points and tied his career-high of six rebounds off the bench and fellow second unit swingman DJ Weathers led all Javelina players with 15 points and three assists. Austen Bradshaw drained three triples for a career best nine points.
 
Scouting the Mustangs
- Midwestern State had its 11-game winning streak snapped with a 72-55 loss to No. 11/8 Angelo State University Wednesday night. 
- Accoring to MSU Athletic Communications, the Mustangs' average margin of victory during the 14 games is +15.
- Bretson McNeal leads the team in scoring (15.4 points per game) and two others average double figures.
- The projected lineup will be McNeal, Xavier Blackburn (10.4 points, 6.1 rebounds), Abiodun Adegoke (7.7 points, 6.6 rebounds), Derrell Gibbs (5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds) and Kevin Wagner, who scored 11 points and added three assists, two steals and one block in Wednesday's loss to the Rams.
