Javelinas Drop Doubleheader To St. Mary’s

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team dropped a doubleheader to St. Mary's, 4-1 and 10-3, on Wednesday at Hubert Field.

The Javelinas (5-16) were stunned in the first game when St. Mary's Nicole Sardelich homered to start the game. A Javelina error led to second run for a 2-0 deficit in the first inning.

Sardelich drove in another run to make the score 3-1 going into the bottom of the second inning.

Kingsville made a push for a come back with Carlie Clark driving in Carynn Gonzales for a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Lady Rattlers (25-4) scored another run in the seventh inning to end the game.

Clark (1-8) suffered the loss for the Javelinas allowing four runs with three earned on 10 hits in a complete game.

Emily Brittain earned the win for the Lady Rattlers with a complete game performance to move to 14-3. She faced 29 batters and limited the Javelinas to one run.

In game two, St. Mary's started with three runs coming in after the bases were loaded and Laura Benavidez tripled to right field in the first inning.

A&M-Kingsville would get on the board in bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Taylor McGill double to left center and drove in three runs (Clark, Adela Gomez, Jaeleen Castro) pulling Kingsville to within one run, 4-3.

The Lady Rattlers held off the Javelinas scoring three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in seventh inning.

Vianna Gutierrez (8-1) earned the win in the second game only allowing three runs with three earned on two hits.

Ariel Kellogg (3-7) took the loss for the Kingsville allowing seven runs with seven earned on 12 hits while putting in five innings of work.

The Javelinas will face Tarleton in a doubleheader on Friday with first pitch at 5 p.m.
