Box Score DENTON, Texas -- The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team fell to No. 4 Texas Woman's 14-2 on Saturday in the last game of its three-game Lone Star Conference series.
The Javelinas (5-14, 0-3) got off to rather rough start and stumbled through the rest of the game. The Pioneers scored two runs off three hits in the bottom of the first inning.
Kingsville would get on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, putting the score at 3-2 with TWU leading. Junior
Valerie Ramirez homered to left field driving in
Adela Gomez. It was Ramirez's second home run of the season.
The Pioneers (16-3, 2-0) were in control for most of the game. They scored 11 runs in the fourth inning for a 14-2 lead. Â TWU infielder Kendra Sancet homered to left center to bring in the last three runs of the game.Â
Carlie Clark (1-7) took the loss for the Javelinas allowing nine runs with six earned on six hits in three innings of work.
Ariel Kellogg pitched the final inning allowing eight runs on five hits.
Brandie Lander received the win with a complete-game performance to advance to 13-0. She had three strikeouts and limited the Javelinas to two hits.
The Javelinas come home to Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field on March 4
th to play the St. Mary Lady Rattlers in a doubleheader with first pitch at 4 p.m.
