KINGSVILLE, Texas – When the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team and Cameron do battle Wednesday night at 8 p.m. the Javelinas will be looking to sweep the season series.
In the first meeting between the two sides in South Texas,Kingsville's
Irvin Hollinger scored an off-balance jumper against the Aggies at the buzzer for a 59-57 win. A victory on Wednesday would even the Lone Star Conference records for both at 4-8 and force a possible 3-way deadlock with Texas A&M-Commerce.
The Javelinas will be hoping for the return of leading scorer
Rashad Basey who missed the last eight minutes against Commerce last Thursday and missed Saturday's game at Tarleton State. Basey is third in the LSC with 16.9 points a game.
Ronald Scott, who is second on the team with 11.2 points a game, had 23 on Saturday in Basey's absence. He had a career-high 24 points in the win over Cameron earlier this season. Scott is sixth in the LSC in assists with 4.6 a game.
Jordan Jahr leads the team with 5.4 rebounds a game and is averaging 10.7 a contest. Hollinger has raised his average in scoring 2.4 points a game to 10.4 a game in LSC play.
Cameron is led by the duo of Will Cook and Craig Foster who are in the top eight in the LSC in scoring. Cook is scoring 16.1 a game and Foster 15.1. Cook leads the team with 6.1 rebounds and Foster is fourth in the LSC with 4.6 assists.
