KINGSVILLE, Texas – For only the second time in school history, the Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's basketball team travels to Alaska. The Javelinas (0-7) will compete in the Seawolf Hoops Classic where they will take on the host and No. 3 in the nation Alaska-Anchorage (9-0) on Friday at 10 p.m. CT and Alaska-Fairbanks (6-4) on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. CT. Both games will be played in the Alaska Airlines Center.
 
The Javelinas traveled to The Last Frontier State in January, 1992 and battled the Nanooks and Seawolves twice, splitting the contests versus Alaska-Fairbanks and dropping both matchups to UAA.
 
Micah Weaver leads the Blue and Gold with 10.3 points per game and the trio of Kyra Bauer (7.9), Lauren Jay (7.9) and Michelle Wagner (7.8) are putting up at least seven points a contest. Jay paces the squad with 7.3 rebounds per game.
 
Entering the weekend with a team-high 2.7 assists per contest and eight steals is Tessa Ramirez.
 
Five players are scoring in double-figures for the Seawolves, led by Jessica Madison's 14.1 points per game. Leah Bonner follows with 13.7 points but paces the squad with 8.9 rebounds/contest. Also with over 10 ppg average are Alli Madison (12.7), Megan Mullings (10.3) and KeKe Wright (10.3)
 
Robertson ranks fifth in the nation with 3.9 steals per game and 12th in assists with 6.0 dimes per slate.
 
As a team, UAA is first in all of Division II in scoring margin (+29.9) and steals per game (17.1). They are also second with a +10.33 turnover margin and rank in the top 10 in assists per game (eighth, 18.9), defensive field goal percentage (10th, 33.1%), offensive rebounds per game (seventh, 20.0), rebounding margin (fourth, +13.8) and scoring (sixth, 84.4).
 
The Nanooks go into the weekend having lost two straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference games on the road to Montana State-Billings and Seattle Pacific. Jordan Wilison paces the team with 16.1 points per contest and is second in rebounding at 6.2/game.
 
Kaille Skjold pulls down a team-high 7.7 rebounds off the glass and adds 10.4 points. Benissa Bulaya pitches in 10.0 points and 3.8 assists per game.
 
Alaska-Fairbanks is scoring 75.9 ppg with a +4.0 scoring margin. From the field, the Nanooks have made 39.8 percent of their shots but just 26.2 percent from downtown.
