KINGSVILLE, Texas (Men's Basketball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2-1) closes the home portion of its 2014 schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 25 when it hosts Our Lady of the Lake (1-1) at 8 p.m. inside the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
The game follows the women's basketball team (0-2) taking on No. 25 St. Mary's University (2-2) at 6 p.m.
Five scorers reached double figures in the Javelinas' slim 82-77 loss to NCAA Division I affiliate University of Texas-Pan American on Saturday. In the exhibition, the Hogs connected on 12 three-pointers, including eight by
Don Thomas and
DJ Weathers. Weathers finished with 14 points off the Javelina bench.
In the 76-71 victory over St. Mary's, a team that received votes in both the inaugural D2SIDA Top 25 Poll and the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll,
Don Thomas finished with 20 points, six assists and four rebounds and
Troy Jones added 16 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
The Javelinas defeated Our Lady of the Lake, 110-64, in the lone meeting in 1984. Following Tuesday's slate, the Blue and Gold will spend Thanksgiving weekend at the Tarleton State University Thanksgiving Classic, taking on Northwest Nazarene University (1-3) on Friday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. and Pittsburg State University (1-2) on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. Friday's and Saturday's contests will be the first time that Texas A&M-Kingsville takes on both opponents.
The Javelinas will not return to the SPEC until Jan. 3 when they host Schreiner University at 3 p.m.
