KINGSVILLE, Texas – With a week off since playing Midwestern State, the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team travels to San Angelo to make its return to the hardwood against Angelo State in a key Lone Star Conference matchup on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Javelinas enter Saturday's game with a 1-5 mark in the LSC and are 6-12 overall. Meanwhile, Angelo State currently sits in a tie for second in the league at 4-2. They are 14-4 on the year.
The contest will pit the top two scorers in the Lone Star Conference against each other.
Rashad Basey leads Kingsville with 17.7 points a game which is leads all conference players except for ASU's Kenny Williams. Williams is averaging just over 18 points a contest at 18.4.
Two other Javelinas join Basey , who is third in the league with 1.8 steals a game, in double figures.
Jordan Jahr, who leads the way 5.9 rebounds a game, is second at 10.8 a game, while
Ronald Scott is averaging 10.6 a game. Scott has dished out 76 assists. The trio is joined in double figures in LSC play by
Irvin Hollinger. He has upped his scoring to 10.5 points a game in six league contests and is scoring 7.4 overall.
Aside from leading the Rams and the league in scoring, Williams is second on the conference with 8.5 rebounds. He is the only Angelo player in double figure. Bryan Hammond is third in the conference with 4.3 assists.
