KINGSVILLE, Texas – A couple of Cardinals and a season high of turnovers caused the Texas A&M-Kingsville women’s basketball team to fall 57-33 to Incarnate Word during the annual IBC Bank “Pack the House” Night at Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
Kingsville falls to 3-13 overall, 1-9 in the Lone Star Conference. Incarnate Word improves to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the conference.
This marks the 12th consecutive loss for the Javelinas. The last time the Javelinas lost this many games was during the 2003-04 season when they lost 15 consecutive games.
Ashley Viera and Madara Gulbe led the Javelinas with eight points each. It was the first time this season no Hoggie netted double digits. As a team, Kingsville shot its lowest percentage from the field (.212).
Ashlyn Green led the Cardinals with 13 points and seven rebounds, followed by Lauren McKinny with 10 points.
The Javelinas will be back in action Saturday as they travel to San Antonio for another match up against LSC rival, Incarnate Word. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
