KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville senior defensive Marquis Singleton (Decatur, Ill.) and junior kicker Matt Stoll (College Station) were honored by the Lone Star Conference Monday for their play in Saturday’s 16-13 victory over Abilene Christian.
Singleton shared Defensive Player of the Week with Tarleton State linebacker Marquis Wadley.
Singleton was a force from his defensive end position. He finished the game with just four tackles but three were for losses of a combined 15 yards. He had two sacks of ACU’s Mitchell Gale including one on 4th-and-9 to seal the win for the Hogs. His two sacks matched his career total coming into the game. Wadley racked up 12 total tackles in TSU’s win over No. 4 Midwestern State. He recorded seven solo tackles and his biggest play was an interception with 48 seconds left that sealed the Texans’ victory.
Stoll was named the LSC Special Teams Player of the Week. The junior connected on three field goals of 35, 29 and 31 yards. He added an extra point to score 10 of the Javelinas 16 points. In two games he has scored 21 points and has six FGs. It is the second time in his career that he has been named the Special Team Player of the Week.
