Stoll Earns LSC Honors For Second Time, Tied For National Lead In Field Goals Per Game

KINGSVILLE, Texas – For the second time this season, junior place kicker Matt Stoll has been named the Lone Star Conference Special Team’s player of the week. He is also tied for NCAA Division II lead with 1.67 field goals a game.
Stoll kicked a pair of field goals and was successful on a pair of first quarter field goals to open the game. The junior opened the game with a 45-yard kick, which was his longest kick of the season, for a 3-0 lead. He added a 44-yard field goal moments later to make it a 7-6 game. Stoll went on to add four successful point-after attempts to lead the team with 10 points. The Javelina kicker enjoys facing Angelo State as his career-high of 49 yards came a season ago against the Rams.
Stoll leads the Javelinas with 64 points scored, which is seventh in the league. He now has 15 field goals on the season which is one shy of the single-season record of 16 set by Walter Rule a season ago. Stoll has had three field goals in a game three times and two twice.
Stoll prior was named Co-Special Teams Player of the Week following the Abilene Christian game.
