
LAWTON, OKLAHOMA – The Cameron University baseball team awoke from their slumber on Saturday and exploded for 20 runs against visiting Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone Star Conference action. The Aggies (20-11, 13-8) knocked off the Javelinas (16-15, 13-11), 20-9. (

The Javelinas scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Aggies answered by scoring the next 13 runs in the game to take control. They scored nine times in the fifth inning. In the eighth inning, Andrew Garcia ended the game with a three-run homer to invoke the 10-run rule.
The Aggies pounded out 22 hits in the game and were led by Garcia’s 5-for-5 performance that included six runs batted in, three runs scored, a double and a homer. Chase Larsson, the leading home run hitter in the nation, went deep twice and finished with four hits, five runs and three RBI’s. Kenny Held went 4-for-6 with two doubles and five RBI’s while Kaleb Brawner had two hits and drove in four. Leadoff man Josh Dawn was 3-for-4 with two walks and scored four times.
The Javelinas had 13 hits and scored nine runs, but it was not enough. Ryan Cook (Houston/Mayde Creek HS) was 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Chris Ballou (Houston/Houston Christian HS) went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI while Jake Mendiola (Kingsville/North Richland HS) had two doubles and drove in two runs.
Wade Myatt picked up the win for the Aggies by pitching 6.0 solid innings. Adam Aspaas (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills HS) was handed the loss after being chased after three innings of work.
The Javelinas are back in action on Tuesday night against St. Edward’s at Nolan Ryan Field at 6 p.m.
