Javelinas Top ECU in Overtime

  KINGSVILLE---Texas A&M-Kingsville used its free-throw shooting in an overtime period to take an 89-85 Lone Star Conference crossover victory over East Central here Monday night on the Hampton Inn Court in the Steinke Physical Education Center.
    The Javelinas scored seven of their 11 overtime points at the stripe.
    Dontae Figgs hit a layup with five seconds left in regulation play to force the overtime.  The Javelinas hadn't trailed since the 10:30 mark of the second half before Figgs' goal.
    The Javelinas never trailed in the overtime period after Flavio Milam gave the Javelinas a two-point lead to open the session and and Antwan Mullins increased the lead to five. 
    Mullins had three of the free throws in overtime, Royce Gaye hit two and Ryan Wallace and Naquawn Lee each had one.
    Five Javelinas hit double figures, led by Gaye with 19.  Wallace and Mullins each scored 18.
    Milam and Lee each had 16 points.
    Milam led the rebounding with 11.
    East Central had six players in double figures, led by Eric Allen with 17.
    The Javelinas hit 53 percent (30-57) from the field and ECU shot 46 percent (30-65).
    The Javelinas won the boards, 38-37.
    TAMUK moved to 9-2 for the year and 3-1 against LSC North Division teams.  ECU fell to 5-5.
    The Javelinas are idle until Dec. 30 when they host Huston-Tillotson in a non-conference matchup.
