San Angelo -- The Javelina offense managed 10 hits in the opener, but scored only two runs, got great pitching in game two, but lost another tough one-run decision in dropping a pair of games at Angelo State 10-2 and 2-1.
The losses dropped the Javelinas to 26-28 overall and 21-22 in the Lone Star Conference.
Taylor Everett extended his hitting streak to eight games in the opener with a pair of hits. Wiley Crowson and freshman Adrian Williams (Victoria Memorial) also had two hits apiece.
Angelo State broke open the game with nine runs in the second.
In the nightcap, junior Sam Strickland pitched brilliantly, allowing only two runs on seven hits while registering his seventh complete game of the season.
But the Javelina offense managed only five singles and stranded seven runners.
The Rams scored two in the third and the Javelinas answered with a single run in the fourth on a two-out, run scoring single by Gil Perez (Odem).
After a 25-minute lightning delay, the Javelinas had the tying run on second with two outs in the sixth, but couldn't score.
The two teams will conclude the regular season with a single game Sunday afternoon.
