Kingsville -- Josh Livingston (Moody) and Sam Strickland pitched complete games as the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas swept the East Central Tigers 18-3 and 3-0 at Nolan Ryan Field.
After losing the first game of the series in a slugfest on Saturday, the Javelina pitching staff bounced back to allow only three earned runs over the final 21 innings with a pair of shutouts.
Livingston allowed just three earned runs over seven innings while striking out seven and walking just one. He finished the game strong by retiring the final 10 batters he faced to earn his first victory of the season, his 17th career victory and his 10th career complete game at A&M-Kingsville.
The Hog offense banged-out 16 hits, five extra base hits including Trey Karlen's second career home run, a three-run shot in the third. He also added a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the sixth.
A&M-Kingsville scored four runs in the second and fourth and six in the sixth. James Brown had three hits, scored three runs and drove in three.
In the nightcap, Strickland improved to 2-0 and pitched his first career shutout in his first start of the season. He allowed only six hits, all singles, walked just one and struck out seven. He got the shutout despite the Javelinas making four errors. Only one Tiger baserunner got as far as third base.
Strickland has made five appearances this season and has not allowed an earned run in 12.2 innings, striking out 16 and walking just four.
The Javelinas got a run in the first on a run-scoring single by Joe Hamon, Chase Myrick singled to drive in a run in the fifth, and Karlen's infield single in the sixth drove in the final run scoring Hamon who led off the inning with a double.
Hamon hit a blistering .786 in the four-game series with 11 hits in 14 at bats, eight runs scored, two doubles, a home run and six RBI.
