Texas A&M-Kingsville's unbeaten LSC record received its first blemishes Friday night when the Hogs dropped a pair of games at Tarleton State 7-3 and 2-0.
The losses dropped the Javelinas to 21-18 overall and 4-2 in the Lone Star Conference while Tarleton State improved to 20-21 and 2-4.
The Javelinas led 2-1 in game one heading into the bottom of the fifth, but starter Raul Trevino gave up four runs in the fifth.
The Hogs had a chance to regain the lead in the top of the seventh, cutting the lead to 5-3, but left the bases loaded. The Hogs also left two runners on in the eighth and one more in the ninth.
The Texans added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Trevino lost for just the second time this season, falling to 6-2.
Clay Bockholt (Tuloso-Midway) extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a run-scoring double in the fifth.
In the nightcap the Javelinas managed only two hits, a single by Joe Hamon in the first and a Javier Molina double in the fourth and wasted a five-hit pitching performance from Brandon Hevner, Mario Gonzalez and Trevino.
The Texans scored one in the first and one in the sixth.
The two teams will wrap-up their four-game series with a twinbill Saturday afternoon.
