Eight Game Winning Streak Ends At St. Mary's

Javelinas See 8-Game Winning Streak Snapped San Antonio - St. Mary's broke up a 3-3 tie with 5 runs in the seventh on its way to beating the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas 10-3. The loss broke the Javelinas? 8-game winning streak as A&M-Kingsville fell to 12-6. With the win St. Mary's improved to 14-4. The Javelina bullpen, a strongpoint of the team so far this season, faltered Wednesday night, allowing 7 runs on 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. Sophomore Sam Strickland allowed just 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 1/3 innings of work in his first start of the season. Freshman Mario Gonzalez took the loss and fell to 1-2. Javier Molina hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the second that tied the game at 1-1. Clay Bockholt (Tuloso-Midway) was the only Javelina with multiple hits, going 2-for-3. St. Mary's scored single runs in the 5th and 6th to take a 3-1 lead, but the Javelinas scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3. Scott Orrell, in just his second at bat of the season, singled with the bases loaded to drive in two and tie the game. But St. Mary's broke the game open with 5 runs on 5 hits and tacked on 2 more in the eighth. The Javelinas return to action Friday afternoon with a doubleheader at Central Oklahoma.
