Javelinas Play Well Down The Stretch, Beat Cameron 61-51

   Lawton, Okla. -- Dyana Bullinger scored a season-high 18 points and the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas held the Cameron Aggies to just two points in the final seven and a half minutes in a 61-51 victory Saturday afternoon.  Click here for stats.

   The win broke a five game losing streak for Texas A&M-Kingsville and improved its record to 4-5 while Cameron fell to 1-7.

   Kayla Naylor (Calallen) had 13 points, five assists and a steal for the Javelinas.

   "We did a really good job of defending," said Javelina head coach Scott Hyland. "We held their top two shooters to 1 for 13 from the 3-point line.  We made them work for their points.  We had a really good team effort.  They made their run, took the lead, but we responded."

   The Javelinas led 32-22 at the half and increased the lead to 13, 38-25 three minutes into the second half.

   But Cameron put together a 15-1 run to grab a 40-39 lead with 11:50 left in the game.

   The game was tied at 49 with 7:36 let in the game when the Javelinas took over.

   Texas A&M-Kingsville scored 12 of the last 14 points of the game for the victory.

   Cameron's only points in the last seven and a half minutes came with 2:14 left in the game on a jumper by Keindra Scott that cut the Javelina lead to 56-51.

   The Aggies missed their final four shots from the floor while the Javelinas made 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute.

   The Javelinas shot well from outside, hitting 9 of 18 3-point shots while holding the Aggies to just 2-of-20 from beyond the 3-point arch.

   A&M-Kingsville also made 10 of 13 free throw

   The Javelinas played extremely well in the first half, dominating after the first seven minutes of the game.

   The game was tied at 9-9 when the Javelinas went on a 12-0 run, holding the Aggies scoreless for five and a half minutes on the way to grabbing a 21-9 lead.

   The lead grew to 14, 32-18, before the Aggies scored the final four points of the half to cut the lead to 10, 32-22.
