Garza picked up two weekly citations for his performance against No. 24 UT Tyler last week. The junior transfer from Our Lady of the Lake threw a nine-inning, complete-game shutout of the nationally-ranked Patriots for his second win of the season, a feat last accomplished in February 2018. Garza struck out 12 and scattered three hits over the course of his outing and got some defensive help along the way in the bottom of the sixth with a 9-3-2 relay to preserve the scoreless tie. For his efforts, Garza was named both the Lone Star Conference and NCBWA South Central Region Pitcher of the Week.
