Flowers was the spark in the men’s basketball lineup as he averaged 24 points across two games while shooting 54.5% from the field in wins over CSU-Pueblo and Texas A&M-Texarkana last week at the Emerald Beach Hotel Thanksgiving Tournament. He started the tournament with 17 points in a 70-58 victory over the Thunderwolves and followed up with 31 points behind nine three-pointers in an 82-68 win over the Eagles the next day.
The transfer from Seward County Community College tied head coach Johnny Estelle’s record for threes in a game, as well as attempts with 15, and was honored by the Lone Star Conference as the LSC Offensive Player of the Week. It was the first weekly award for the Javelinas on the offensive half since February 3, 2014, when Ta’Quan McDew brought home the accolade.
On the year, Flowers leads the team with a 12.9 scoring average on a 41.1% clip from the field, including a 40% mark from beyond the arc.
