For the women’s cross country program, Yanez paced the group to a first-place finish at the Pirate Invitational on Friday for the first win as a team since the 2014 season. She averaged a 7:03.8 mile in the 6k race at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, to clock in at 26:20.3 for the first-place finish, nearly a full minute ahead of the second-place finisher.

On the year, Yanez turned in a season-best 24:52.5 at the Saints Invitational on September 21 to finish 15th at the race. She also took 18th in the 5k at the East Texas Shootout at the start of the year with a time of 21:30.63.
