Texas A&M-Kingsville men’s basketball coach Pete Peterson announced that high school seniors Quintin Moses and Justin Ledet and junior college transfer Naquawn Lee will join the Javelina program next season.
Moses and Ledet both signed national letters of intent.
Moses, a 6-foot-1 guard, was a first team All-Area and All-District 23-4A pick this season for coach Chris Johnson at La Marque High School. Moses was the team MVP, helping lead the Cougars to a 26-7 record including an 11-1 district mark and a district title. La Marque was ranked 10th in the final regular season Class 4A poll by TexasHoops.com.
Moses averaged 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game his senior season.
“Quintin is an outstanding combination guard who can really push the ball and is very unselfish,” says Peterson. “He is a fantastic 3-point shooter. He is very strong and very hard to guard. He was a three-year varsity player and he did a great job leading his team. He is also a very tough defender.”
Ledet, a 6-foot-4 forward, was a first team All-District 24-5A and first team All-Brazoria County selection this year at Alvin High School.
Ledet averaged 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds while blocking 23 shots in leading the Yellowjackets to a 17-17 record.
“Justin is one of the strongest players coming into the program that we’ve ever had,” says Peterson. “He has spent a ton of time in the weight room. He is a handful inside. He goes to the boards every time. He plays like a power forward and he’s extremely solid inside and attacks the basket.”
Lee, a 6-foot-2 guard from San Antonio East Central High School, played last season at Southwestern Christian College in Terrell after playing at Brookhaven College as a freshman.
He helped lead Southwestern to a 21-9 overall mark, a 9-5 league record and a spot in the NJCAA Region V Tournament. Lee averaged 9.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game as a sophomore.
“Naquawn is an extremely explosive two guard. He knows how to get to the basket and draw fouls. He took an unheralded Southwestern Christian team to the playoffs. He and Wendell (Mulkey) had a lot of success together and we are excited about reuniting those guys. He can shut people down defensively. We expect him to help immediately.”
