Kingsville, TX – The Javelinas open Conference play on the road against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.
 
The Javelinas look to forward to opening conference play against a team receiving votes for the top-25 in West Texas A&M. They will then stay on the road as they travel up to Portales and take on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds. Both teams are coming off of their legs of the LSC Challenge, where just like the Javelinas both teams finished with a 1-1 record for the weekend.
 
West Texas A&M
The buffaloes are entering conference play with a 5-6 record on the year, after splitting their matchups this weekend where the fell to No.9 Angelo St. in four sets, before beating Lubbock Christian in a sweep. Kaycee Cavanaugh is leading the way for the team as she has 130 kills for the season on a .147 hitting percentage, as well as being second on the team for Digs. Casey Loewer is holding down the defensive side with 47 total blocks on the year, pairing up with 75 digs and leading the team with 16 aces.
 
The team sits at 3^rd in conference for total blocks with 2.37/set, as well as boasting a top seven opponent hitting percentage holding teams to .179. In a season where the team has not put together two wins in a row yet, they are looking to right their ship.
 
Eastern New Mexico
On the other side of this weekend the Greyhounds are hobbling in with a record of 3-7 and will play Texas A&M international at home the night before the Hogs come to town. They have only had one match end in three sets this season. They have been able to contest with everyone they have played, they have just not been able to finish at a high rate. They rank near the bottom third, in most categories, for the Conference.
 
They are being led by the duo of Sophia Valdez and Amya Speller as they have collected 156 and 121 kills each, Amya is also their leader for blocks at 29 total. Sydney Pipkin leads the team with 340 assists, as well as leading for digs at 106 on the year. They are looking to enter conference play facing Texas A&M international, whom they lost to 1-3 during the LSC Challenge.
