Javelinas Eye Gold Bracket at AVCA Small College Beach Championships

Kingsville – The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina beach volleyball team heads to Gulf Shores, Alabama this week for the AVCA Small College Beach Championships, entering as the fifth seed with a 20-7 record and an eye on the Gold bracket.

TAMUK has been placed in Pool D for pool play across Friday and Saturday, with bracket play on Sunday determining the championship. The Javelinas enter Gulf Shores with momentum, experience, and plenty of motivation to make a deep postseason run.

vs. Vanguard — Friday, April 17 | 9:05 a.m.

Kingsville opens pool play against 12th-seeded Vanguard. The Bulldogs enter at 8-14 on the season, though nine of their losses have come against Division I competition, making them a more battle-tested opponent than their record suggests. TAMUK will look to come out sharp in the opening match and set the tone for the weekend.

vs. Tusculum — Saturday, April 18 | 9:05 a.m.

The Javelinas return to the sand early Saturday against 13th-seeded Tusculum. The Pioneers enter at 12-19 on the year, with six of their losses coming against Division I competition, showing they have not shied away from tough competition this season. TAMUK will look to take care of business and keep the momentum rolling heading into the marquee matchup of pool play.

vs. Palm Beach Atlantic — Saturday, April 18 | 2:30 p.m.

Kingsville closes out pool play against the stiffest test of the pool in fourth-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic, the top seed in Pool D. The Sailfish enter at 18-14 on the season, with seven of their losses coming against Division I competition. Palm Beach Atlantic has not shied away from tough matchups, facing top-overall seed Tampa five times this season with two of those losses coming by a narrow 2-3 margin. The Sailfish also handled Pool D foe Tusculum 5-0 earlier in the season, making them the clear favorite at the top of the pool. A win over Palm Beach Atlantic would be a statement heading into Sunday bracket play and would go a long way toward securing first place in Pool D and a spot in the Gold bracket.

The top finisher in each pool advances to the Gold bracket with a chance to compete for the Division II championship, second place moves to the Silver bracket, third place advances to the Bronze bracket, and fourth place enters the Copper bracket.
