Javelinas wrapping up regular season at Texas Invitational

Kingsville - With the postseason on the horizon, the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's track and field teams are headed to Austin, where the Texas Invitational will serve as their regular season finale.

The Javelinas will be sending 28 athletes north, 16 men and 12 women, to compete in 20 total events across Thursday and Friday. Thursday will feature exclusively afternoon action, with field events set to begin at 3:30 p.m. and track events starting at 6:00 p.m.. Friday will be an all day affair, with field events starting at 9:30 a.m. and track events set to begin at 1:20 p.m..

"For this weekend, I'm looking to get our athletes a good opportunity to improve their marks for nationals and conference standing," Head Coach Ryan Dall said. "I feel that our men's relay teams can make nationals if we put together a good total race. The competition at the University of Texas will be high-level, so that should push us."

Entering the weekend, Kingsville holds 10 top-25 marks in the nation, five on the men's side and five on the women's. Of those, four (two men's and two women's) rank top-10 in the nation.

After this weekend's competition, TAMUK will have a tight turnaround before they head to Canyon for the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships in Canyon next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
