Kingsville - For the first time in his outdoor career, Texas A&M-Kingsville men's track and field senior pole vaulter
Django Segovia earned the Lone Star Conference's Field Athlete of the Week award.
Segovia cleared a bar set at 5.05m, which is not only the new 27th-best jump in the nation so far this year, but also moves him up to seventh on the program's all-time outdoor recordbook. He has been having a stellar senior year, and is the LSC's reigning Champion in the indoor pole vault.
A TAMUK athlete has now won three of the six possible outdoor LSC men's Field Athlete of the Week awards, with a pair of Javelina freshmen,
Christopher Gonzalez and
Trevor Upton, each taking home the award earlier this season.
Kingsville will be closing out its regular season this weekend in Austin at the Texas Invitational.
