Kingsville — Coming off a 2-2 showing at the Cowgirl Beach Bash last weekend in Lake Charles, the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina beach volleyball team makes the trip to Belton, Texas this weekend for the UMHBeach Spring Break Bash.
The Javelinas have shown resilience and growth through the early portion of the season, going a perfect 4-0 on their home sand before navigating a tougher road environment last weekend. Now at 6-2 on the year, TAMUK heads to Belton looking to build on the progress made through the first few weekends of the season.
Friday, March 6
The tournament opens Friday with a doubleheader. TAMUK kicks things off against Central Arkansas (3-5) at 8:00 a.m., before turning around to face a familiar opponent in Sam Houston (1-7) at noon. The Bearkats are still in the early stages of building their program in just their second year of existence, and the Javelinas have already handled them twice this season, looking to make it three in a row in the midday matchup.
Saturday, March 7
Action continues Saturday as TAMUK faces Tarleton State (2-4) at 10:00 a.m. Despite their record, the Texans have proven to be competitive, nearly dropping matches against Saint Mary's (California) and Houston Christian. TAMUK will need to be locked in before closing out the weekend against host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (6-2) at 4:00 p.m. The Crusaders represent the stiffest test of the tournament and will serve as a measuring stick for where this Javelina program stands heading into the heart of the season.
