Kingsville - After a stellar performance that led the Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team to a doubleheader sweep of No.10 Angelo St. on Saturday, junior first baseman Dakota Martinez earned the second Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week award of her season, becoming the first Javelina to ever win the award twice in the same season.

Martinez had yet another incredible weekend in the box for Kingsville, going 3-of-5 with a walk, a home run, and four RBIs to lead the Javelinas in their sweep of the Rambelles, which was the program's first sweep of a top-10-ranked team since 2022. 

Not only is the home run that Martinez hit the fifth that she has hit in the month of April, but it is also the seventh of her season, tying her for the eighth-most in the LSC so far this year. She has recorded a hit in 12 of her last 13 games, seven of which have been multi-hit games.

The new award is not the only way that Martinez made history this weekend, as she also pulled herself within one home run of a tie for 10th-place on the all-time Javelina career homer list.

Martinez and the Javelinas will be putting their seven-game winning streak on the line with a pair of road mid-week contests, as they face off with Western New Mexico on Wednesday (1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.) and Sul Ross St. (1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.).
