New Orleans – The Javelinas finished day one of the Bayou Beach Duals going 1-1, dropping a close match to Southeastern Louisiana University and bouncing back with a strong 4-1 victory over Nicholls State.

The Javelinas dropped their opening match to the Lady Lions. Kalani Vasquez and Laura Betsa in Pair 2 got the early lead for the Javelinas, winning in three sets, 19-21, 21-19, 15-12. Pair 4 saw Elizabeth Williams and Kate Wozniak take set 1, 22-20, but would drop the next two sets with the Lady Lions tying it up one a piece. Southeasterns Pair 5 took the lead with a sweep, but Emma Daugherty and Kastyn Hoffman had a sweep of their own, tying it up 2-2. The Lady Lions would then sweep Pair 1, securing their victory. The Javelinas would fall 2-3 to the Lady Lions.

The Javelinas would answer back in a big way against the Colonels. Vasquez and Betsa would set the tone yet again with a sweep, 21-14, 21-17, putting the Javelina on top early. The Lady Lions would take a sweep on Pair 4, tying it up, but the Javelinas would shut that door quickly. Daugherty and Hoffman would take quick care of Pair 3 with a sweep, 21-12, 21-15. Rylan Pollard and Liana Huesca would secure the win with a sweep of their own, 21-15,21-12. Kamryn Briggs and Clara Presmanas-Garate would put on the finishing touches, taking Pair 5 in three sets, 21-16, 11-21, 15-11.

The Javelinas return to the sand tomorrow morning with two more matches, facing Central Arkansas at 8:30 AM and UTEP at 11 AM.
